do you have metal shavings in your oil? If you lost the pushrod end into the engine you could do SERIOUS damage to it. It cuold wedge into some place nasty, it could break apart and wedge into smaller, nastier places, it could plug oil passages, etc... On the flip side, it could do nothing and you'l...

November of 1965. That makes it a '66 model for sure. VW model years ran Augst to August. So August 1965 - Aug of '66 would be a '66 model year.

A friend of mine showed me this one. Works every time. 1. replace shoes. replace drums. Get everything back together, and happy. 2. Adjust the shoes all the way out to where they're stopping the drums from moving. 3. Bust loose passenger rear, bleed. 4. Driver Rear next. 5. Passenger Front 6. Driver...

Works fine. You need to have 12v and an alternator that runs at least 55 amps. I know Pete over at Airkewld sells a complete kit for like 180 bucks + shipping, pretty sure there are others out there as well.

That case would have been kicked out of the factory between Aug and Sep of 1964, and at that point would have been for a 1965 model. Whether the guts are original at this point is anyone's guess. Would have been a 40 horse. FWIW, in 1966, Engine numbers beginning with an F would have been 1300's, bu...

I don't think the '66 has the spare tire deflator hose. :)

do you want a '66 correct color, a VW correct color, or just any ol' color? I'm particularly fond of L388 Atlas blue, which was a '59 only color. Here's a link to a car that was being painted that color. http://sixdaemonbag.smugmug.com/Daily-Driven-Dubz-Galleries/Shows/Phoenix-Bug-O-Rama-2007/DSC018...

Another similar scenario would be a correct hood and the incorrect early trim intended to be used with a hood crest.

Welcome to VW ownership. Here's some fun trivia for ya. The VW 1300, 1500, and 1600 engine cases are all identical, and interchangeable. It's very common to rebuild a 1300 into a 1600 dual port, which is probably what you've got. All the parts are slip-in or bolt-on. What's even more exciting is tha...

LHD models it's just to the left of the steering wheel under teh dash (so between wheel and door). I'd guess RHD models it's the opposite side, but I've never looked, to be honest.
