Might try calling Bughaus to see if they have them in 77mm length.

If not, I would think that if you are careful you could shorten them yourself.

Fits 1300-1600cc engines.

Both the serial number and the engine number appear to be from August `65. I think it is very likely that you have the original engine....

Tighten the nut (A39) or the problem could be part A38 in the diagram.
Available at Bughaus.

I've heard that buying nylon washers from a regular hardware store works.

I use a 6 to 12 volt inverter for my car. I am currently using a 12 volt radio.
I have been using https://postimages.org/ to host my pictures on message boards. Free, easy to use and has the ability to reduce the file size to meet your needs.

These pictures were taken at night with a flash. It will be a number of days before I can send better pictures. Maybe someone else can provide better pictures. First picture is of the left side, taken from outside the car with the left door open. Second picture is of the right side taken from inside...

Compare the movement of the trans shaft to the shift rod when the gear shifter is being moved. Maybe do an internet video search of the words "shift coupler volkswagen".

I'm assuming you have a European model...hence the ignition switch on the steering column
Yes, European model.
From what I understand, many, but not all Euro models had the steering lock ignition.

Not sure whose dash you are asking to see but here is mine. In addition to no emergency flasher, it is lacking an ignition switch on the dash due to the fact that it has a steering lock ignition switch.
