I have a very early '66 and I bought a 113 129 701K intake manifold
to replace the one on the engine.
After removing the manifold I realized that it was a 113 129 701J.
The engine has low milage and I am almost certain that the manifold
removed was the original.

One thing I do is disable the engine from starting (such as disconnecting the coil wire) and crank the starter enough times to get the oil pressure light to go off. This helps to insure that the oil has circulated when the engine fires up.

I think what you have is a 1967 Beetle that was not built for the US market. If you go to thesamba.com, you will find 4 owners manuals listed as 1967 for type 1. You will find the owners manuals in the "Technical" tab. I believe that the first two manuals listed are for European or elsewhe...
