Tune-up query

A happy New year to all. I would wish to understand something that goes on in the engine while tuning up in a rush or emergency situation! I noticed, with the engine running, if I kept advancing the distributor, the engine revs would first heighten but a clanking sound get louder. What I'd want to u...

CT and CU engine query

Hi. I need advice about the CT (1600cc) engine timing as well as the CU (1800cc) engine. I have used the CT for a while now over long stretches- I don't mind the slow pace- but I'm beginning to get convinced there's something amiss with either timing/carb settings or probably my piston rings needing...

Thanks darzoom.
My primary goal was to just weigh the options of getting the engine to use but more specifically as a replacement to the 1.6ltr air cooled that's not n my transporter.
Thanks

Fuel pump hesitation

Hi. Seems my fuel pump has hesitations - it seems to pump very small amounts and seems like more a problem especially when the engine has been off for a while. Interesting thing, it is as though the problem cures itself once I drive...but on stopping, it might need for me to pull some fuel into the ...

1.7-2.0 ltr engines

Hi. Curious- having stumbled upon a block and cylinder heads to the 1.7-2.0ltr engine version (air cooled), I wonder; -What are the internal differences if any? -is the crankshaft used on this the same? -are there any cylinder heads to other engines e.g. Subaru that may fit this block? -how dependab...

1500cc/1600cc cylinder head??

Hi.
Question- on the single port heads, is there a 1500cc and 1600cc head or is the difference in engine capacity factored in by the sleeves/pyston bore/stroke??
Thanks you.

Hi. I hope you got some resolve. I was just curious as to how a 2110cc engine looks! Is it an engine on the standard block? Would you kindly post me a picture? I'm growing more to looking for more power especially for my transporter van that runs on a 1600cc aircolled engine that I feel is a little ...

Try a 50/50 mix of acetone and Dexron/Mercon Automatic Transmission Fluid. Mix one part acetone and one part ATF in a re-fillable spray bottle and go to town. The idea is to thin the ATF with the acetone so it will penetrate and seep into and between surfaces. The acetone will evaporate, leaving th...

Hi.
As an update, I purchased the impact driver. Fortunately the set had a philips socket (hehe- hadn't earlier known snap on was a brand name...I thought it was the socket itself)...
The job is moving on as desired.
Thanks you.

Thanks for the tips.
I'll be out looking for a impact screwdriver tomorrow. I will equally shop for that snap on Phillips socket.
Cheers.
