Red carpet or floor mats
I too have the pearl weiss 66 VW with the red interior. For years I've tried to locate the original red floormat to replace my crumbling ones. They are lost to history at this point. Or not if you know a supplier?

"Restored" or Customized?
Just like the antique car auctions, "Restored" means fixed up with nice paint these days. To bad he spent $50,000 on a customized VW. His personalization is nice, but it's not restored because it never was that way to start with.

Replacement reproduction parts
You had you own question answered correctly. Most old cars have a
rejection reaction just like hunan organs. I alwys recommend original
parts unless there is no choice.
Right now I'm ready to disassemble my old assemblies, strip the paint and rust, repaint them and reinstall them.

air pressure in VW tires
I've been told the VW beetle with radial tires should have 17 lbs PSI in the front and 24 PSI in the rear.
Has worked pretty well so far.
Now let's hear from the Experts.

66 VW wiring
I've wired many of my own restorations (other than VW) and recently helped a friend who had a kit. Never again will I do it from scratch. Reason: I knew what each wire did, but the person who cam after me never could know. Therefore a standardized wiring is my new preference. Because I've kept some ...

Wiring a 66 Beetle
It depends on whether or not you are going back to the stock 6 Volt system or customizing it into a 12 Volt Resto-Mod. You'll need to use
the heavier gauge 6 volt wiring if you stay stock, especially on the battery cables. I think you can get most of it in a harness from VW parts suppliers.

Upgrade or keep original?
I side with the keep it stock voters. An original 66 VW was and still is good vehicle to drive and enjoy just as it was manufactured. if you want to create hot rod VW, do it with one that can't be saved as original. We drive ours in the Smoky Mountains and are thrilled withthe ride and power and don...

oil changes
Good question for the technical bunch. However I change my oil by the visual method (If it looks clean it's OK). I have to qualify that by saying with 7 cars in the household and 5 of them collector cars, it takes a long time to register even 3000 miles. I think if it looks dark, that indicates dirt...

Car Cover
Blue Baron is right, Florida requires more protection for your VW. If you have no garage for it, consider a portable garage, available at Sam's Club for about $200. Then get a good car cover. Problem is in Hurrican Season, the portable Garages can fly away, so makew sure you tie it doen and take it ...

6 volt radio
My 66 has block out plate, and my singing is good enough to go with the music of my VW engine.
I did buy a radio that just sits on the shelf in NC. While not pretty, it's complete. What are old 6 volt VW raido's worth today?
