Saw this on the samba

And, had questions. I thought all 66 cars had metal sunroofs, or was that only a US thing?

Otherwise, what do you guys think on price?

I know, know its dangerous, but

Did you try the careful application of heat vis a vis some sort of small torch?

Just be careful, you don't need me to tell you about the proximity of the gas tank could prove to be a safety concern.

Good luck, and let us know how it works out.

Heater channels

Has anybody ever patched holes in their heater channels rather than replace them? I have some sizable holes over where the jack stands go.

I know, I know, better to replace them, but for $$$ consideration, I'd rather not do that right now.

Re: 1966 Glass

In your search, don't forget about parts interchangeability Exactly. And we don't know what size windows were delivered to the Philippines. Best to post a photo of the car so we can advise you better. Barring that, measurements of window dimensions may also help. If it was just the flat glass porti...

Thanks!
In your search, don't forget about parts interchangeability. This is what makes owning a beetle a good thing.

Also keep in mind the older cars this was designed for had 6:1 compression or lower, and later engines have about 7.5:1 and stronger valve springs, so hand cranking is not so easy an option. X2 My grandmother was a nurse, and even back when the trannies weren't geared as aggressively as they are no...

My solution to that is two cars! I'm not kidding. I really have a stock '66 (two actually), and a Herbie. I also have a wife who's a Herbie fan and drives the car herself, so win-win. My wife can't drive a stick. Our house doesn't have a garage, and every other 66 on the market nearby is apparently...

If you're building a Herbie replica, you should delete the badge altogether. Otherwise I'd keep the 1300 badge, because it's a unique feature of the '66 VW. Thought was to have bolt on replaceable parts with the stripes and gumball 53s on them. I also like a magnet idea. The wife seems to think, st...

wow...

that sounds like a good dillemma to be in. Seriously, I guess it comes down to, how easy would it be to get the carpet off from the places where it has been added, and what kind of damage is that the carpet is hiding. If it doesn't take that much to get the RED one going, get it going, sell it to so...

He has way more patience than me...

I would've just bought brand new black, and zapped it with the correct paint style combo in an aerosol can. Carquest had the L87 for me.

Sounds like you might have an earlier year wiper switch on your car. I know that VW's from the `50's used screw terminals instead of spade connectors. I'm not sure at what year VW made the change to spade connectors. As far as where the wire goes, you may want to check out the following wiring diag...

the plot thickens

removed the POS 80s style radio today. This mystery wire I accidentally hooked up to the headlight switch, which caused a strange buzzing from a nearby 12 volt relay (PO or PO PO had switched machine out to 12 volt.) Couldn't seem to find an empty socket on the wiper switch, and they weren't spade c...

Wiper Motor Mystery wire?

It's black, ends in a spade connector. Does not appear to reach anything nearby. Maybe it got loose and that's why it isn't working anymore.

I can post pictures later.

I really need wipers, though.

Re: Thanks for the response

Hey All, I appreciate your suggestions but just want to make it clear what I'm searching for. I'll take any color OG square weave carpet sections except black and dark grey. I would be stoked at the chance to score a pair of front heater grommets if any are laying around. I know..........dream on, ...
