Wow. My husband suggested looking into halogen bulbs. Sure would be nice. I think I'm gonna stay 6 volt for a while. After thinking it through a little more, we realized we really aren't having any issues so why mess with it. Thanks for all the help.

Parcel tray fits in and so does my husband. Yippie! As a matter of fact, the tray fits so well, once it was muscled in a little, it stays put all by itself. Holds heavy stuff with ease. I must have thick carpet or something. I did the zip-tie-to-the-steering-column for my peace of mind and . . . . d...

Gee. We thought once you upgraded to modern day voltage, you'd achieve something closer to modern day speed on the wipers. I don't use the wipers now because the driver's side pops off if I do! Either the wiper arm or the thingy it attaches to is stripped so we'll have that fixed as well. Currently,...

wiper motor upgrade

We are going to upgrade from 6 to 12 volt soon and I wonder if any of you have upgraded your wipers along with your voltage. I read the '67 had a two-speed wiper and thought we'd have that installed with the upgrade. If we do this, will we have to change the dash wiper control knob to some other kin...

I think you're right about the tires too. My husband had a super beetle in college and our '66 feels more stable because of the wider tires. The clencher for us purchasing this car was 4 disc brakes. Awesome. They aren't power assisted but she stops on a dime every time. We'd prefer stock tires but ...

Thanks so much for the terrific info. Every time I've seen them pictured there's always something light in them. I'm more likely to have the latest book I'm reading, my cell phone and a good-sized day-planner. I'm tired of loosing my phone because it fell next to the passenger door while driving. Th...

That's what I'm looking for! I searched and found an "Empi" dealer that sells a bamboo tray but it just says it comes with the proper mounting hardware. Do you remember what dealer you purchased your from? Also, does it supply adequate pressure to hold relatively heavy items without slippi...

Thanks, it does. I ended up ordering some "coco" mats. The car has light tan carpeting with light tan carpet mats. The mats protect but show everything. I think the coco mats in tan/black/brown will work out fine. They're shipping now.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the wonderful bout of out-loud laughing! It felt great! No wonder your car gets such great mileage. My car is like the pretty girl who doesn't have to be anything but pretty to be admired. Yours . . . well . . . you know what I mean. Actually, Yours sounds adorable!

Thanks Boris! I think pix would be helpful. I prefer the bamboo tray but don't really want to drill holes so, seeing the push-mount would be helpful. Maybe I can make a hybrid or something.

Sure you don't have a practical joker in your family who's adding gas for the fun of it?  Your's does sound pretty great but it sounds as if you drive for optimum results. What's your buggy look like?

I THOUGHT SO! Thanks so much for the reply. All four of my tires are larger than original but the rear are noticeably larger. My tires were discussed in the introduction forum where I've posted pix of the car and I was told the rear are 253/60x15 tires on 8" rims. I've four disc brakes as well ...

Parcel Tray Installation

Anybody have a bamboo parcel tray and know how they mount? Are they held in place with pressure screws or do you actually need sheet metal screws that make holes? If you need to make holes, how many and where? When I look at them for sale on line, some show "Mounting Hardware" as two hooks...

Wow, polar opposite combos. Both are sharp. You give an eloquent explanation of the mood of the industrial scheme. The first combo sounds elegant with a VERY different airy, peaceful feeling. I'm an artist so I “get” both. If your project is supposed to express something about you, guess industrial w...
