Aluminum door sill plates
Has anyone tried the decorative aluminum door sill plates?
Do they interfere with the door closing or the weather seals? My sills are looking bad and that's a horrible place to get paint to last.
Looking for experienced recommendations.

Optima 6 Volt
I heard a rumor that the Optima 6 Volt was discontinued. Then I asked on the AACA web site if it was true. Someone a replied that there were none available anywhere. Finally a Optima guy named Jim wrote and said "production Problems" had caused the shortage and they would be available agai...

oil pressure light
Am I missing something, or have all my 10 VW's over the last 57 years been defective? Every one of them would have either the the oil pressure light or the generator light flicker at idle after a good hard drive. This was especially true of the 6 volt 1966 and earlier VWs. I always thought that was ...

Got a PM reply
TMI makes a correct interior package. Now what I need is a shop to install it and my new window rubbers. Our local upholstery shop won't do the window
rubbers and I have a new artificial wrist and can't bang them in.
Any suggestions in the southeast?

1966 VW Beetle Interior Kits
Who sells the interior kit closest to the original VW interiors?
It's time to refresh our BUG and it's all or nothing with VW's.
Also taking recommendations on shops in the SE to do it.

Why don;t you share what you found and where? The 19L is no longer supplied by Johnson Controls to NAPA or Interstate Batteries.

Ours does that but works great when reved up and the battery is fully charged. Often at idle at a light, the stop flashing.

1300 Flywheel
Roger,
My 66 VW has the original transmission and flywheel with a 1500 engine installed as the replacement. When I had it resealed they showed me that the flywheel had been redrilled to accomodate the 1500 to the 1300 transmission. Apparently they are different.

Axle boot clamp tool
I just bought a new set of German made split axle boots for our 66. They came with "crimp clamps", and they recommend a $120.00 Klann tool. I think they're nuts! I don't want to buy a tool to use to crimp them, so I plan on re-using the old screw type hose clamps from the previous boots. A...

I use single stage urethane with a satin agent and lots hardener, for the most original hard finish. Nothing looks worse than a peeling steering wheel.

putting a 1500 back to a 1300
I agree that you should keep the 1500, Remember the transaxle was different for the 12 volt cars and hooking a 6 Volt engine to your 12 Volt Transaxle may be a problem with the fly wheel & visa verse. The 1500 is stronger, faster and easier to get parts for than the 1300. They look just alike, s...

Floor Mat
Our 66 has the red floor mats pictured in the original car listing. It too has faded to a dried out old mauve color. I sure like the car advertised.
