Hey You either have a Deluxe or a Standard. In 1966 the Standard was designated 1200A. It's a one year only thing. Here is how you can tell if it's a deluxe or standard (1200A) You know the little switch low on the A pillar that operates the dome light. You won't have one or even a hole for it if yo...

Originally this carr was from Ataacadero. It was bought about six years ago by someone in Paso Robles and that's when I first saw it. I just got it from bim. It was never listed for sale.

My new 1966 Model 117

I've had my eye on this one for a while.

One respray on the outside, 1500 SP H case engine, black seat covers.

Other than that a pretty nice original California car. 0 rust, nada 8)

The other interesting thing about Standards is how small the production numbers of these cars were. In the split window era, Standards constituted 30 to 40 percent of production, but over the years the percentage of production declined until it was under 5 percent by the end of the fifties. By 1966...

really cool car. How did you find it? I run a Chapter of the Vintage Volkswagen Club of America. Our website gets a lot of traffic since we've been raffling cars to help wounded soldiers since 2002. Hence if you internet search for Vintage VW guys in CA you might find me. www.centralcoastvwclub.com...

My car is equipped with a 40hp 1200cc engine, this is supported by the Birth Certificate. The engine number starts with a "D" From what I've gathered the D engine was the 1200 40hp put in late model standards in Europe, about 1966 to 1969. Up to 65 they had 36hp engines. The badge on the d...

I agree on keeping the standard simple. The parcel tray is now in my 1963 Ragtop. The vase is in my 56. The hubcaps were chrome on this car which was marketed as a 1200A Here are the differences between a '66 standard and a '66 deluxe that I have researched so far 1966 Model 115 VW Sedan Standard w/...

I picked up my '66 in February of 2009 and I just now got around to registering for this site. Currently I own 4 VWs and 1 Porsche. My parents drove the family around in a '58 bus so I've been a VW person all my life. I took my drivers test at 16 in a '67 13 Window Deluxe Bus. These days I'm involve...
