The 1966 VW Beetle Forum

My 66 has a backfire when decelerating. I set my timing correctly(900 Dist) , adjusted my carb and idle and still has a backfire. The only thig I can think of is I removed the exhaust last week and used the same gaskets, could an exhaust leak cause a backfire? Thanks, Billyzack

I recently got my first Bug, a 66 sedan and noticed in the pics I see of 66's, they all have turn signal lights on top of the front fenders. mine does not, the amber turn signal light is inside the headlight enclosure on the bottom. Is there a model without the lights on the fender?
