Yes. I just had my fuel tank out this weekend. You need to remove the tank to do this. It's not to difficult, if I can do it anyone can. It's amazing how much access you have once you remove that tank. Replacing the master cylinder would be a snap. Once you have removed the tank, depending on the co...

Matt, I like the idea of having a shop evacuate every bit of air in my system. I think I got most with the MityVac, but you never know. What is the drip method?

You guys are very helpful! When I first tried the MityVac I put vaccum on the system with the bleeder valve closed...duh! I was purchasing some additional brake fluid this afternoon at a Federated Auto Parts store (the benefits of going to an auto parts store vs. a WalMart) and I happened to ask the...

Scruffy would you mind going through your MityVac bleeding routine? I just picked one up because there is no way my better half is going to hang out with me in the garage to push a brake pedal up and down! In other forums they give the vacuum bleeding method a hard time, saying it won't work for air...

Rebuilt carburetor, Engine not starting

I cleaned the carburetor and used all parts specified for the 30 PICT-1, but unfortunately no go. I had a devil of a time installing the accelerator pump. The spring kept distorting the gasket on the valve and it leaked gas like crazy. Any ideas?

Well the rims turned out OK. The media blasting left a pretty rough finish for the black powder coating. Here is the method I used to paint the interior rims with L87 Pearl.

Wheels are free now!

It's taken some time but I freed up the wheels. The rear brakes were the biggest challenge with castle nut removal required, but torque-meister is extremely useful for easy removal and accurate re-installation. Wheel cylinders in the rears needed to be replaced after I could not budge the bleeders.

Based on what I'm seeing the mats are not glued to the tarpads. Over time they just must stick like crazy to the pan pads.

I met a sweet little 66 on Saturday

I happened to see a little white 66 bug cruising into Home Depot the other day. I told the owner about this site and hope he will join. Beautiful little car!

Correct floor mats for Ruby Red

Lava is the listed color. Is this gray? Does Wolfburg West or others carry the lava mats with the ridged lines vs. pebble finish?I think Wolfburg West has them in lava (gray). Are there alternatives?

I replaced the front flexible lines the other day. Today I replaced the wheel cylinders, pulling and re-installing the drums with a torquemeister tool I found on the Pittsburgh Craigslist. What a marvelous tool!! Next I need to replace a couple hard lines and the rear flexible lines. Maybe I'll be b...

Rear floor and shift tunnel mat

Did VW glue the floor mats to the black padding stuff? I went to move the mat and it nearly disintegrated as I pulled it up off the black sound deading/padding stuff. Plus the shift tunnel had some nasty black tar like substance smeared all around.
