Add two more cars to the list. My black '66 had a '67 style rear quarter on the left side, and my Seasand '66 has one on the right side. This is because the new quarter panels were being phased in prior to the introduction of the '67 model. Both cars were late production run '66s. Turns out it's not...

That's terrible for such low mileage. It could be running rich, or you could be having detonation problems. This can be caused by too high compression for the lousy grade of gas you're using. Did the engine ping or diesel? A solution could be lowering the compression ratio by shimming the heads. (Or...

The driver's side mirror was always an accessory that everyone had to buy. The cars came from the factory with a threaded mount on the top hinge pin, covered by a plastic cap that was painted body color. These caps are very rare as they were thrown away by the dealer when the mirror was installed. (...

I've also had a couple of '66 bugs with one '67 rear quarter panel on one side (different stamping for the Z bar), and the old '66-style quarter on the other. In fact of the two cars, one had it on the driver's side, and one had it on the passenger's side. The introduction of the new pressings must ...

I think H~moto is right. My late '66 has the hose going to the left heater box, though I've seen this arrangement on some early cars as well. Perhaps it was a modification for colder countries? Whatever it was, it's a bad idea to pipe such hot air back into the engine. I have mine hooked up for look...
