30-pict-1

I ordered a new carb from JC Whitney and when it showed, I realized it is from Brazil and not German. The size is different and it doesn't line up to be bolted in. I checked wolfsbergwest and they are out. Does anyone know where I can buy one? Or, does anyone have an extra laying around they would b...

Gas in the oil

OK, I have been having some issues with gas as of late. My bug has been leaking a gas/oil mixture. I drained the oil and low and behold, gas! I have gas in my engine. I replaced the fuel pump and m=pulled the carb to inspect the float. No problems I can see. The carb was recently rebuilt so all the ...

Gas hog!

For some reason it seems as though I am going through gas like crazy! Last month, I had taken my car in to get the distributer changed as well as have the carb rebuilt. The mechanic, who is reputable, said my carb was shot and put installed a rebuilt used one. Since getting my car back, it seems to ...

???

I searched for a connector other than what connects the right taile light and I am at a loss. Do you think I should join the red/white (or is it white/red???) with the license plate wire and then plug that into the 3-way connector?

Give it a shot

I will give it another shot.

Do you have any experience installing a new wiring harness? If so, how difficult are they to install and does it have a pretty good set of instructions?

Thanks

????

I cant find what you are referring to! I have looked inside the engine compartment on the right side in the fender well, and nothing. Just some old remnants of insulation and glue. My 66' had been converted to a 12v. I followed the license plate wire to a 3 way connector, but those three spots are a...

OK

I have looked everywhere for the "cardboard" panel and I just cant seem to place it. Im sure if smelled like beer, I would be able to find it. Where exactly is it located? By connecting that wire, with it help with the brakes and right turn signal? Thanks

Help! Electrical (again)

OK, I have been struggling with an electrical issue for weeks and I cannot, for the life of me, solve my problem. Here are my issues: 1. No right blinkers, front or back 2. no "clicking" sound or light indicator for right side blinkers 3. No brake lights. 4. with the emergency flashers on,...

OK

I will check those, but the wiring is a mess! I am still trying to figure out all the relays, connections, etc.... And looking at the black and white wiring diagrams is like trying to read mandarin chinese. Plus, my bug was converted to 12V so I am not too sure what is what. Question for you: How ca...

Bad Cam? Electrical issue

o I just got my beloved 66' back for getting a tune up and new distributer put in and the mechanic I went to seemed to think that the cam is pretty worn and needs replacing. He says that she wants to run lean and the engine cant suck in enough fuel because of a bad cam. He also pulled on the pulley ...

Possible Overhaul

OK, so I just took my non-running 66' in to a local guy who had the parts I needed and the time I didnt have. Through his efforts, my bug is now running! However, he informed me that I have a whole mess of problems ahead of me. I havent seen the list just yet, but the main issue is he felt as ...

Thanks

I am a teacher and we got over 6 ft of snow in 2 weeks. I feel like all I did during the break was shovel snow and drive my wife around. Not enough time to work on my bug. Thanks scruffy for the advice, it does help and I will check out tonight and see what I have under the hood.

I will take a look and see. Any way of telling how big the motor is?

By the way, the weather here has warmed up and much of the 6 ft of snow we had it gradually melting away. I here the midwest id beginning to get pounded, any new snow at your place?
