Well, this might sound a bit stupid ... but it actually happened to me a couple of years ago. I had the same situation as described above. Fuel OK, Coil giving spark (which means that the points are OK as well, since otherwise no spark would be attainable), but no spark at either plug. I was totally...

I (unfortunately) have only the plastic tray, and i am not sure they are held in the car the same way. Anyway, my tray is held by 2 screws on either side which just "push" against the sides of the car. No holes or anything. I'll try to make some pics if you think this might be helpful. Boris

This reminds me of a problem i had a couple of years ago.

The fault was at the fuel pump, which would overheat and get stuck - no more fuel going to the carb. The funny thing was, that it did it randomly and not all the time. Might be a thing to check out.

Hallo Benny, sweet ride! If you plan on driving the car this low, you might want to consider replacing your rear wheel bearings with encapsulated ones. Otherwise you may end up with shot bearings before long, since the angle of the axle tubes will not allow enough oil to reach the bearings and they ...

Hi and welcome. As far as your concern about "original or not original" goes, i think that one should either keep the car totally stock, or go to the opposite end and customize the hell out of it :). I've done it both to several bugs and each of the alternatives has it's pro and cons. Righ...

Thanks rokemester. Apart from the respray and the seats i did everything myself. The color combination is outside color Pearlwhite (the original color the car had from the factory) and the interior is quite close to the burgundy of the original (color only - everything else has changed). I'm really ...

Thank you for your kind words. I have to admit though that there were times during the 6 years the build took, that i was totally fed up.

Only the vision of the finished car (the result is pretty close to the desired) kept me going.

Remarks like yours make all the hard work easily forgotten.

The coolest thing IMHO is a set of wheels from the 356 Porsche. But they are pricey and quite hard to come by.

There are some aftermarket solutions though. Check the online shops for pics and specs.

Well, mine was looking like crap and also had a tear in it. So i decided to replace it. It is actually not as hard as it seems. What i have to admit though is that i went for the "cheap" solution without the separate frame on the rear window. It took me (with the help of a friend) 2 nights...
