Sunroof Cable
The sunroof cable is very sensitive, or at least mine is, I would recommend replacing it, otherwise it is hard to use the sunroof, but it would still be usable, it all depends on your budget Hey Max: Thanks for the advice. I actually ordered 2 new cables and the gear. Several different folks said t...

Wiring Harness
My vote would be for Wolfsbugwest as well. Thanks! Ordered complete harness for $234 from Wolfsburg West. It was competitively priced and I have been pleased with their quality on past purchases. We'll see how it works out. I wish I wasn't color blind--Let's see...is that red, no green..no purple.....

New Wiring Harness
Hi Everyone:
Any recommendations on where to purchase a new complete wiring harness for a 1966 Beetle?? Mine is a 12 volt system already and I need to replace the entire wiring harness. From what I've seen, they sure vary in price and claims. Thanks! Barney Boy

Seat belts
Hi folks, Please forgive me for not getting back to you sooner with some measurements. Here are the locations on my bug: On the door post, the bolt is 6 1/2" down from the two smaller screws that hold on the coat hook/assist strap. The two bottom bolts are both 7 3/4' forward of the met...

Seat belt
I think with all the seat belt questions that come up - you guys will end up being the resident experts! Ain't that the truth, John. It seems that 1966 was a transitional year regarding seat belts with the "bug" and that some variations in the mounting locations existed. (Man, that sounde...

Seat Belt Installation
Thanks JavaG66--My '66 bug seems to be a different critter. I replaced the floorpans about 6 months ago and I'm just now getting to the interior including reinstalling the seat belts. The 90 degree bracket on the recoil unit is a clue, so I'm sure they were originally mounted on a horizontial surfac...

Seat Belts
I'm dealing with this same location issue. I can't find the original front seat belt installation holes on the lower part of the door posts. I have prodded around and they are extremely well hidden or just not there. It would be great for someone to give specific location information on the hole loc...

Sun Roof
Hi: New member here. What a nice site. I was wondering if anyone has a diagram or other specific information on the rebuilding of the sun roof area on a 66 beetle. I have the sun roof, but one of the cables was broken so all I have is a bag of hardware. I know I need to order one cable, maybe more. ...
