Has anyone tried putting the type 4 seal that just slides in between the tin and the compartment wall? My seal is starting to go bad and I hate replacing it with the rubber seal. This seems to be a great alternative but I never hear anyone talk about it. Any comments?

I went back to square one: checked the carb, adjusted valves, adjusted points, and adjusted distributor. I advanced it slightly and it seemed to do the trick. Do not have a vacuum advance distributor.
