Oily film on windows

I have a '66 Type I, and I keep finding an oily film on the inside of the windows. It builds up about once a week and drive her about that often. The windows are always closed unless we're driving. Any ideas?

Thanks for the info, Seibert66. I'll look into that. Digger89L, why is that an odd question? I'm curious about the history of the car. Of course it could have been swapped at some point, but I'm only curious if some came out of the factory without the emblem. Apparently, it's a possibility. If you d...

Missing 1300 designation on deck lid?

I've checked my engine and chassis numbers on my '66 Beetle and confirmed that she's got the original 1300. However, there's no "1300" emblem on the back like I understand she's supposed to have. I looked on the underside of the lid and I can't see where there's any indentions or holes whe...

Helga, my '66 Beetle

My wife and I bought our '66 (we call her Helga) a couple years ago from a widow who hated to see it just sit in her driveway. Her kids had learned to drive in it and they just used it to "bang around town," a small canyon community in Los Angeles. The car ran great, there was minimal surf...

Wow! Beautiful car. My '66 was originally Bahama Blue, but in the 80s someone painted it over (badly) in white. Boo!

I love that original color.

This worked for me. I never had that noise problem until I disconnected the cable to do some wiring work. It was disconnected for a few days and when I hooked it all back up, I got the noise starting at 20 mph. I lubed it up like you describe and it's fine now. Easy. Thanks!
