Re: Seat adjuster lever

Did you ever find a seat lever? I am in Bloomington, Illinois and have a drivers seat I would sell.

Re: oil pressure relief valve

They were solid originally. I believe the grooved ones started in 67. I have 2 stock 1300 engines (and 2 66 Java Greens!) and both have a solid valve, no groove. Casey

Re: Roof Rack

I have that same rack I bought from a guy in late 80's. He said it was original VW. I cannot get mine on my 66 because the gap is to tight at top of doors. Looks nice on your bug! Casey

I put a 12 volt solenoid on my 6 volt starter. My flywheel was banged up from the gear slamming into the flywheel.

I am sure why the VIN did not start at 116000001 on August 1 1965 for the 1966 model year. It shows that it did for 67 and later on the Samba site. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/bugchassisdating.php They did offer a 1200A which was a bare bones model. I believe it was called the standard...

I would go back with the original distributor, the 205K. I bought one of these a few years ago. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1224651 Check the fuel pressure. Could be high with a newer replacement fuel pump. My 1300 was stumbling on take off with a 009, crappy fuel pump and ...

Thanks. 1300 and 1600 use different wrist pins. The 1600 are longer due to bigger piston diameter. 85.5 for 1600 and 77mm for 1300. I bought a set of 1600 wrist pins a few years ago and had a machine shop cut them to correct length for 1300. Labor rate was more than the price of the wrist pins! I ma...

Wrist pin part number 1300

Does anyone know the part number for the 1300 wrist pin? My part book lists the same number 113 107 411 for 40hp and 1300. I have a set of German pistons and cylinders with rusty pins and looking for new ones. Casey

I have a 1300 I built two years ago with a square top Pierburg pump that does this occasionally. Just happened at grocery store yesterday. Bug ran fine all morning, stopped at store and no start. I pour a bottle of water on fuel pump and it starts everytime. Or leave decklid up so no heat soak occur...

Do you put the rubber gasket on top or bottom of breastplate? I always put it on top, but had trouble getting fresh air hoses one. Then switched to bottom. Not sure how it was from factory. Casey
