Awesome Info
Thanks for your complete and thorough answer. Much more than I could have hoped for. Also, I have verified that the solenoid on my bug is being powered by a lead from the coil. So it all seems to make sense now. And although I love how original my bug is, I'm going to leave the solenoid in place. Th...

Electro-Magnetic Pilot Jet
While tracing down an issue with my carburetor, I have come across an issue that I'd like cleared up. According to many posts on here and on other websites, the 1966 bug did not have a fuel shutoff valve (solenoid), which people say was first introduced in 1967. Some people are very adamant about th...

Intake Manifold Repaint
I want to remove, repaint and reinstall my intake manifold. Can someone tell me how much needs to be removed in order to remove and reinstall it? Different sites are giving me different answers, but none are specific to the 1966, 1300 6v engine.

6v voltage regulators
I recently purchased my first VW in about 30 years. I bought a 1966 bug and it's still 6 volt. My voltage regulator was shot and i was lucky to find a NOS Bosch one on eBay. I found that it's pretty hard to find some of these old 6v parts. My question is, does anybody rebuild 6v voltage regulators. ...

Interior Swatches
I recently bought my 66 bug and one of the first things I did was remove the door cards to reglue the vinyl down. On the passenger side door, behind the clear plastic, I found 3 swatches for the interior. By the way, my carpet and headliner appear to be original to the car. The swatches match the ca...

Pretty stock motor
I'll have to undo a few upgrades in here like the fuel pump, but it's pretty close to where I want it.

1966 bug- not new but new to me
I just bought a 66 bug a couple of weeks ago. I'd been looking for about a year or so trying to find what I wanted and the one I found is pretty close. Since then I've been working through minor issues and carburetor rebuilds etc. Lots of little jobs on the todo list and a couple of big ones. I look...
