Re: Front Disc Brake Conversion with Stock Master Cylinder?
When I got my 66 the previous owner had disk brakes on the front (which I returned to stock drum brakes). They had changed the master cylinder to a dual circuit. However, they kept the original single circuit brake fluid reservoir and put a funky T connection down by the master cylinder, which reall...

Re: Original '66 headliner
After reading that post it makes perfect sense that that part of the headliner would be printed to prevent glue from seeping through the holes. In my first 66 that part of the headliner (under the rear window), was missing. Not sure if condensation from the rear window had taken its toll or it had b...

Re: Original '66 headliner
Hi Seibert66! I had mine replaced back in 2005 while it was in California, before it was shipped to me. Mine is perforated. I also noticed that WolfsburgWest, who seem to be pretty spot on with their replacements lists the entire headliner, even around that rear window as perforated. https://www.wol...

Siebert66 is correct! I have the original carpet in my '66 and can see how some would define it as charcoal, its pretty dark.

My Book: A 1966 VW Beetle Obsession
Everyone remembers their very first car. My first car was a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle that I purchased shortly after my 18th birthday. It was a love affair with that car that would drain my bank account, create family drama, and provide some wonderful adventures. Those events, good and bad, and their e...

Re: Speedo/fuel gauge lighting Issue
Hi kokenfarm, check out the wiring diagram on the main site. The fuel gauge light does go over to the Speedo light. There is only one light for the Speedo. My guess is that he turned the high beam bulb into another light. Check out the diagram: https://www.1966vwbeetle.com/1966%20Wiring%20Diagram.ht...

Re: Engine Lid Rubber Seal installation
I'm sure you've probably started with silicone already. I'm sure they were designed just to be fit tightly in the track. I remember back years and years ago some guys would use a gasket glue in their door channels. Kind of like this stuff: 3M™ SCOTCH-GRIP RUBBER AND GASKET ADHESIVE 847 - 5 OZ. That ...

Re: ISO Advice on engine rebuild 1300 Sp Vs 1600, 1776
My 66 is all original including the engine so I Chose to leave it as a 6 volt system. If the engine wasn’t original I probably would have opted for a dual port 1600. That being said I get plenty of power from the 1300. Now as far as the six volt system, it definitely has its draw backs. Had mine com...
