3 point seat belts

I got mine from Wolfsburg West (red, because I have red seats); they look fine. I also bought their "seat belt retractor" which functions but not as good as the ones used in today's cars.

replacement fuel lines

From what I read, the original fuel line was copper plated steel, I ordered 1/4" stainless steel from Summit racing to replace mine. The PO had replaced what I assume was a clogged line with copper tubing and ran it under the driver's side heater channel-dangerous as copper hardens and can crac...

volkzbitz.com

I would definitely recommend tim@volkzbitz.com; all the nice comments you find on TheSamba.com are true. Yes, $239 for a 30PICT-1 with the threaded barbed fuel inlet may seem like a lot but he offers you a genuine VW product that is very clean and has the bushing replaced for the throttle shaft. Rep...

'66 door handles

The VIN of my car is 1161007628 which places it as an Aug '65 manufacture. I have original August '65 instruction manual and Service booklet which had the key# SU98. While I didn't get door keys with the car, I had Gabe make up an SU98 key and it fit-now-the handle was a round type. I always thought...

door handles, continued

An update to my post above. Never having dealt with door handles, I learned something about my '66 (which may also apply to other years and most likely everyone else already knows...). The passenger side door handle is different from the driver's side. The 64-66 door handle I purchased from WW fits ...

The saga of the'66 door handles

I recently bought a '66 with two different door handles. The passenger side handle is the round type; I have the key but the handle seems like it is falling apart and I'd like to replace it. The driver's side handle is the square type for which I do not have a key. The ignition key, which I do have,...

How I found this site

The '66 and '67 years seem to be more unique than others. Sometimes, I don't know if what I'm looking for is unique to a '66 part or not. I am looking for the straps that hold down the battery cover. I have a '62 and it seems to be the same but I thought I can't go wrong seeking a part that at least...

Greetings. Had a '66 bug in college for years-my favorite car until the engine seized and I couldn't afford to fix it. About 20 years ago I had a '70 ghia for a while. Now that I'm retired, I can afford (a little bit) to once again get the bug (so to speak). Last year I acquired a partially restored...
