Thanks, I checked with the starter repair guy and he said it was probably the battery. According to him, the 6 volt batteries they are producing these days only last about 4 years especially if they are stored in an unheated barn during a Vermont winter. Clunking Noise

When driving on rough roads I can hear a loud clunking noise that seems to be coming from the left rear wheel area. I doesn't happen on smooth roads. The shocks are new and evrything seems tight. Has anybody else had this problem?

Turns out that there is a screw that locks the turn signal housing to the tube. Loosen the screw and slide the housing to the proper location.

Steering Wheel

There is a large gap between the wheel and the turn indicator. The tube is as far as it will go and the wheel is socked down. Any ideas or suggestions?

Foot rest

Did all 66 beetles come with a passenger side foot rest? Does anybody have one or a sketch of one?

lights and wipers

Is the light switch on the left and the wiper switch on the right? That's what happens when you don't take picture of the dash before tear down.

Seat frame color

What color is the seat frame for red upholstery? My bug originally had brown upholstery but I am going with red in the rebuild.
