Garaging my 66

Due to the family growth I have to put my beetle away for a few years (I intend to give it to one of the kids as a 16th birthday present).

What processes would people recommend I go through in order to keep it in decent nick for when I get her back out of the garage?

That explains a lot John.

It is definately a 66 (though an Aussie variant). The reggo and everything confirms it. I am also sure they wouldn't bother badging it just because they changed the engine and the VINS match up.

Australian 66's

Now then....there are some issues I am finding with the Aussie 66 I have bought. A lot of the changes made in 66 seem to be absent. However the garage, my reggo and the 1300 engine and badge all say 66 (as does the peculiarly Aussie vin.) However things like the air cooling holes for the brakes and ...

Does this mean I can stop using the lead replacement valve saving stuff?

Or do I need to keep using that with unleaded fuel?

I am going for it!!!! I want a nice shiny (but original) colour.....is the fontana grey a flat grey or is i...

Go the book yesterday and impressed so far. Not that I understand it but it's the first step I guess. Best advice in it was 'How to drive' and giving the speeds for gear changes etc. good to have confirmed what I thought. Also good to find out lugging was bad for the engine. I hav been cruising in n...

It sounds like a vacuum cleaner so that is good. There is a little chugging as well but that may be my driving. In third until 40 mph (rare occasions) so that sounds good as well. It has the original engine so will need to keep an eye on it. What are the chances of it being able to drive 2 hours a d...

Sorry to ask tech questions here but it seems pointless to start a new thread. The rust (and it is pretty bad 2 HUGE HOLES TO THE GROUND)) is under the spare tyre. Any hints or tips in how to sort it? I am thinking of cutting it out and replacing with a metal plate? Will this work or is this bludgeo...
