Take your time Sercan. We spent 8 months restoring ours and we had so many obstacles and problems but we finally succeeded. There are a few more things to do on the car but we are doing it at our own pace and enjoying it. Getting parts esp original ones could be difficult and certainly expensive whe...

Based on John Muir's How to keep your Volkswagen alive on Chapter XVI there are indeed some engines with the "E" number. This indicate that the engine has the M240 Smog Control. Glad that I read this book and can now assure quite a few guys that their 1300 in our part of the world has the ...

I have Colin Burnham's Classic Volkswagen but the cover is different from yours. Mine also has 128 pages and the cover shows a right-hand- drive 1954 Beetle.
This is really a nice book with full of great pictures. One of my favourite.

We too have problems with trying to balance our wheels until I found Corey and he has on sale one made from Aluminum. He has this advertised in Samba #373915.
There is another made from steel advertised by Rob in Samba #1476281.
Check them out.

Glad to see another nice car with some of the parts I like. The VW tool box and the Sapphire radio are really nice. The 66 Emergency Switch is my favorite part and I collect a few of this.
Drive her home and enjoy the fun. Welcome to the 66 community.

Yes certainly a great find. Not many has that owner's manual and service cards still in the glove box. Keep them well as they are very useful. I paid quite a bit for a good one when I needed one.
Enjoy the fun.

Welcome Mark. hope that you will have lots of fun owning your Beetle. We have a 66 and it took us 8 months and lots of patience esp on Linda's part to restore the car to something that we like. So don't get frustrated along the way. The 66 website is informative and members are very helpful if you h...

I read somewhere and someone refer this switch as the holy grail of 1966 Beetle parts. Bought my first NOS piece for $50 in Oct 07 and installed this in my car. Now the price fluctuates from $20 to some ridiculous amounts. BTW I saw some 66 without this switch while others comes with it. I am just w...

Thanks Branston. Maybe this is what is missing when I bought the Sapphire 3. Really do not know how it looks like. Anyway you can send me a picture for me to try and find one ?
Hope this plate or plates will solve my installation problem or I will have a dangling radio.
Much appreciated. Larry

Installing Sapphire 3 Radio

I am having some difficulties with installing the Sapphire 3 radio to the car. Inserting the radio to the dash slot is no problem but the radio is lose and do not hold properly. Even with fixing a bracket at the back to try and hold the radio in place does not help. Am I missing something ? Can some...

Welcome Muhammad to the 66 community. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your car.
I am sure the car gives you and your family lots of happiness and the stares from people as you drive pass them.
Glad that you finally bought the 66 manual. It's a good reference book which I use very often.

You should know the condition of the car when you sold it 13 years ago and the condition now in your words 'it was in bad shape'. Obviously the owner has not been taking care of the car and trying to sell it. Restoring a car is not a joy unless like what John said you are taking it as a hobby. The t...
